Johnny's rents Sit-on-Tops for lower Noli runs, if anyone needs a rental.
Major Rivers in area are Nolichucky & the French Broad (45 miles away).
Upper Nolichucky is class III-IV, Lower Nolichucky is I-II(III)
French Broad sec 9 is class II-III+(IV), Lower FB is class I-II.
The Class IV on FB sec 9 (Frank Bell's) is easily avoidable.
French Broad ends in the delightful little town of Hot Springs which is famous for its hot springs. Unfortunately, now you have to pay to sit in jacuzzis & have them pump the natural hot springs to you. There's a killer restaraunt in the vicinity of Erwin called River's Edge that has the coolest view of a huge cliff that I've ever seen. I'm planning on taking my girlie-friend there Sat. night. or Sunday morning (after worship)
I'm going to go mountain biking near Hot Springs at a place called Paint Rock Creek. It features scenic views of massive flood damage & a 30 ft waterfall that you can swim over!! Anyone who wants can join me. (Minors need parent's permission)
Both Erwin & Hot Springs sit on the Appalachian Trail in case anyone wants to do some hiking.
